v4 is not released, submitted to either app store, or available as a verified public installer. The historical v3.4.2 macOS digest is preserved, but its exact public binary is unavailable.

Why one price

PrivateBooks has no hosted bookkeeping database, account service, or telemetry pipeline. Your books stay in your local data folder, so the product plan does not depend on a monthly cloud subscription.

What you get

  • No PrivateBooks license key or account. When released, Apple/Microsoft Store editions use the store's purchase and reinstall system; signed-direct distribution is separately planned.
  • Your books stay readable and exportable whether or not you ever buy another version.

The free legacy edition

PrivateBooks v3.4.2 for macOS is the frozen historical legacy edition. Its exact source tag and recorded binary digest are preserved, but the verified public binary is currently unavailable. Do not use a rebuild or third-party copy as a substitute. See release status.
